Need help choosing a bathroom layout

Hello everyone, we are finalizing our new house plans and are having a hard deciding between two master bathroom layouts. Would you please help us choose which one is best. Pictures of both layout below:

I am drawn to the first layout. It seems more functional and you’ll love that big shower! The second seems to be more dramatic, but I feel like you’ll get annoyed needing to walk around the tub. I’ve seen the tub in some amazingly showy spaces at open houses lately. It looks impressive, but day to day use of the whole space seemed less useful. I think you will be happy with either though. What a wonderful amount of space to work with!

I like the first one. Tub off to the side on one wall seems more "right" to me plus you get a larger shower. Also, seems unnecessary to have 2 toilets. Either way I'd make the shower bigger and get rid of a toilet.

Thanks Sandi. I do like the idea of two separate toilets, however i agree that the tub might be better off to the side.

I would prefer the first layout with that large window! You will be able to maximize the natural light in the bathroom. Depending on what’s outside the window, you may have to use a window treatment of some sort, but you will still have more natural light coming in to illuminate the whole room. A small round table in the center of the room with a beautiful arrangement would be stunning when you enter the room.

Thank you Stephanie. I agree there is more natural light with that layout. Love the idea of a small round table in the center

The table idea would be beautiful only if the room seems a little empty. That’s something I would have to decide once actually in the space. Good luck!

Practically speaking, I prefer layout 1. I can't see having 2 water closets in one bathroom, and that also cuts down on the size of the shower. I prefer the free-standing bath being against a wall, rather than in the middle of the room, where there's no place to place products or towels. I also think the split sinks/vanities give people more privacy, than having them sinks side-by-side. Layout 1 also takes advantage of that large window, providing light to the entire room, not enclosed in the shower.

I like the first one, but I would take at least 6 to 8 inches from the shower and add that to the toilet room width. A narrow toilet room can be claustrophobic.

Also your bathroom entry door interferes with the toilet room entrance. With a wider toilet room, you can move the toilet room down, avoiding interence with the other door.

    The first one, no question.

Like everything about it, including the fact that person showering can see the outside window through glass door while showering. I have this set-up now, and I love it.
