Replace the runner with a glass top if the piece requires protection.

IMO remove the mirror and replace with a piece of art. Mirrors work best where they reflect something worth seeing twice and the side of a fridge is not it . Can we see the space from further back ? Is this a family entry or for guests ? BTW I will not go shopping for you that is your job.This looks to be a bit country the chandelier not so much so I really need to see more of your home.

Use whatever bench works in the space and works with your style, but it should at least be 17" tall for seating.
