Doesn’t matter. This plywood doesn’t provide strength it merely raises the counter to accommodate the built up edge. What kind of supports do you have for the overhang. (That little bit of mold and moisture staining doesn’t affect the plywood at all regardless, all plywood is shipped and stored outside barely protected. )

Accident waiting to happen and someone will get hurt when it breaks (not if, but when). Plywood is not support for a cabinet overhang no way no how. that needs to be steel stretcher bars fabricated for your specific application. By the way the plywood is fine just not the proper application.

I wish people would stop wanting a waterfall counter. I feel like every day there is a post here with a waterfall counter that is a fail. It is just too difficult to do unless the kitchen designer and fabricator are both very experienced. This one is worse than most on this forum which typically are more about bad mitering and scribing. This one is actually dangerous due to the unsupported span.

While we are at it, I have to ask - and I am sorry, but I guess I feel I must ask - with the refrigerator being where it is, is the passageway next to it blocked when the fridge door is open? And is the fridge door hitting the white cabinet opposite to it when the fridge door is open? This just looks so odd, I had to ask.

I think your aesthetic choices are beautiful. I love the pendant lighting. But whoever designed it was not knowledgeable about counter fabrication, electrical codes, or functionality.

Yikes-I'd be immediately putting something hefty and sizeable under that span of rock if there are kids and pets in the home until it can be removed. Agree with others who've already noted the problematic island size/walkway space and fridge placement issues.

@Shannon_WIon It'd not the waterfall countertop issue, it is the incompetent people who do the job.

Take any job no matter what it is, you have people in the trade who do the work the right way or half-fast-way, in other words, they "just wing it" to get it done and get paid, and they don't care what the outcome will be in the long run.

That is super dangerous and needs to be addressed immediately for the short term. The long term requires something else entirely, as there isn’t room for that island. Who designed that.
