IMO the bed with the posters is just too big looking for the space as for the light I agree probaly wall sconces but I need a bit more info as to your style . Make sure the center light is good enough to light the space for cleaning too.This space looks like it is in a basement so I would be concerned about no egress window that is a safety issue. Can we see the whole room ? I read in bed so this could be a great idea since it looks like to folds back against the wall but gives good lighting for reading. At least post pics of the bedding to give us hint

These are great ideas — I appreciate the information on how far the light should extend, too— wasn’t sure about that. . Unfortunately I don’t have a better picture yet. I agree the bed is big for the space— but I like it and it came with the cabin! There was an old double in there but- that’s small for two. We are planning flooring and an egress window for safety. I’ll look for a mounted light that adjusts.

Are you open to adding recessed lights in the ceiling? Seem to me the sconces will be mostly decorative or task lights which won't give you a lot of ambient illumination. The reading lights Patricia suggests are good, too. But I'd do them in addition to the recessed cans. You can always put them on dimmers to adjust the brightness.

The 'ugly arms' I posted let you move it all around. I'm not sure why I posted stained glass, but I saw straight lines in bed, in copper ceiling light, so the pretty glass item has straight lines.
