Turning a Decor Niche into a Built-in Caninet

Good morning,
I recently purchased a house that has a large decor niche near the front door, I was wanting to turn it into a cabinet for dog leashes and other miscellaneous since we don't have an entryway closet. I want to frame it in and add a cabinet door. I am looking for pictures if anyone has done this before or suggestions in alternative to make it a more functional space.

First thought….showcase beautiful short leashes…leashes as art installation! 😄 But next thought is to place a framed artwork that is slightly bigger than the niche opening with a side mounted piano hinge that will not be visible when closed. ☺️

I'm sure you could get a door for that small niche, but you might want to drill and exploratory hole -- wouldn't it be nicer to have a small closet there if there's nothing prohibiting it?

The niche opening is 19 by 62. I'm not sure we should fit any sort of closet even super small with how short the wall is. I am loving the idea of using a canvas painting and I think that might be what we do ὠA

acm…the framed artwork attached by a piano hinge would be operable like a door…so you would use it like a closet
