Typically Dark Gray or Bronze is a standard offering from the aluminum window manuf. Have you considered those finishes? I agree that the vinyl will be too wide. Stick with the aluminum.

Thanks Beverly. Perhaps dark gray would work. I want to modernize the home by abandoning the 80's look. I want to change the color of the house to something much lighter, almost white with windows that pop in black or perhaps dark gray. My biggest issue is the budget. I need two large sliding doors (almost 9 ft) and 11 windows. I was thinking that perhaps I can have aluminum windows and vynil sliding doors. The sliding doors are in the back of the house and the other one is by an area that is not visible to people unless you enter the house.

Vinyl will be too wide if you do the front window in three separate windows keeping your existing wide dividers HOWEVER if you make it one window by removing the existing dividers and deal with window mullions if you still want three you will gain glass.

That whole opening because of the top wood looks like it is framed for one larger opening so it is most likely possible.

You could also look at fiberglass. In-between aluminum and vinyl on both cost and frame thickness.

It's interesting that none of the contractors here in Texas have offered me the option of fiberglass.
