Saija nice group of Ms. Mata Hari looks interesting and possibly different enough from the other Striptease sports to warrant a place in the garden. Every year I see Marrakech it makes it into some shopping cart, but I never pull the trigger on it. Maybe that's one of those I need to grow before I really love it. (adding to cart).

jocl17 - you have such nice big mature Hosta. Thanks for sharing them with us.

On to the Ms! Maggie May has the largest leaf size to plant size ratio of any Hosta I grow.

Magic Island is similar to some but the yellow just seems to burn brighter in it.

OTOH Mango Tango looks like no other.

Marbled Cream may need separated this year.

This is the only pic of Marilyn Monroe I took last year.

Midnight Oil had a bunch of pics taken.

Mini Skirt - The only Mouse Ears I grow besides the original.

Monsoon made a good start for a newbie.

Mourning Dove grows and looks great for me.

my only M..years ago I bought Montana Aureomarginatas (have tags)..pic#1 is featuring a Regal Splendor but the clump beyond RS is not more RS..pic#2 is a close up from that clump..one has a sport (?)..my margins are thinner than the other MA pictured here..I'm doubting these are MA..if not mine are missing..🤷‍♀️

this pic shows a couple more of what I think are the same hosta as in the pics above..they're going down and hard to see..

    enjoy the pretty lindera..that ID I know..😂

Paula if grumpy cat weren't already taken....now the orange carrying on is so funny!

Saija I agree Mata Hari is a very interesting sport.

    jocl17 great looking Majesty & m. A.

utog & Beth lovely MD & Moonlight Sonata. Steve your MD is very happy.

Steve Mango Tango really is a stand out as well as Midnight Oil.

Ann/nw lovely pics but I am not seeing m. A. On your lot it would at least have the yellow edge in spring. It also has a distinctive leaf shape I am not seeing in your pics. Take more pics next year and we will be able to ID it.

    m. Aureomarginata

Maui Buttercups. I should have washed off the leaves and weeded around this young one.

    Mighty Mouse

    Mini Skirt

    Miss Linda Smith

Monashee Blue Cups. Thank you Pieter!

    Moonstruck freshly planted.

Mystic Star got hit hard with a late frost so this is from last year.

    thanks Laurie..I agree..

maybe one of these?..years ago I didn't worry about ID..🤦‍♀️

I don't have close ups of the variegateds that could be MA..

    again..my never ending goal..more pics in 2022..

The one on the right is getting closer to being a possibility. If you cropped the pic I still don't think it would be clear enough to tell. Hopefully next year.

to me mine aren't as pretty as the ones in this post or the hosta library..the top leaf of the one on the left does have a bigger margin..more? like MA than the first 3 photos..not definite though is it?..

Monkey Business, early in season. Margins brighten. Wonderful plant. I got it from Naylor Creek a couple of years ago.

No, at this point I would say neither. If you go through your pics you might spot it somewhere.

old_dirt I don't think anyone has ever shown Merry Sunshine, nice one!

utog Monkey Business is wonderful. I had ordered but did not receive it.

mbug thank you. So happy your m. A. survived and thrived.

    Shadow lovely Moon Split.

Ann I hope you will consider getting m. A. It is a classic for good reason and a favorite of mine & many others.

Laurie..MA must be a good one..it's in everyone's garden except mine!..I can change that 😂..

Undertheoaks, that Monkey Business is gorgeous, it’s calling my name : )

So many lovely Mini Skirts here……..I’ve tried twice and gave up….any hints???

Here is my Montana. I hear what a few of you said…..it is up early and seems to get frost bit every season. It did a bit better with the late season frosts this past season.

    jocl17, great looking Majesty

Beth, always such a lovely view of your yard and hostas.

steve, never heard of Marbled Cream, but what an interesting (in a good way) looking hosta. I like the leaves in the middle the most.

nw/ann, when I first started I didn't think about keeping IDs for my plants, either. I would just keep a record that said hosta, daylily, rose, etc. Then we get hooked and want to call them by name!

utog, you're collection seems so big!

Mellow Mood came back with the green leaves that were growing faster than the rest.....

So I separated it and this is what's left. Still a young one so hoping it will get bigger!

sandyslopes..you made me feel better 🙂..I saved the tags..and I thought "I'll remember" and "I can find it later if I want to since I have the tag"..well who knew that with hundreds of hosta it's not that simple..🤦‍♀️

back in 2006 i had a pretty bad digital camera.

but a local park had some massive hosta.

they removed them over the years, i miss seeing them.

    Montana Aureomarginata

Montana Aureomarginata again. Creeping Charlie not included.

Olddirt and jocl17, Which do you prefer, Liberty or Majesty? There seems to be some overlap in appearance and I am uncertain whether I should pick up Majesty.

Paula, that cat looks like one of my strays when he first showed up…..but he’s a sweetie now!
Nice Ms everyone……glad I ordered 2 A. Montanas as I have admired it for several years now.

    Here’s my M’s:

    Couple more

    Some more progressions

Couple more. Thanks for looking, debra

    Last one

Mousetrap, Montana aureomarginata again, May in bloom, and Marilyn Monroe (present for my MIL)

Steve, that Marilyn Monroe is lovely!
Old Dirt, Merry Sunshine looks great. I have never seen that one.
    Midnight Oil and Mike Shadrack

    Mike Shadrack in bloom.
Miniskirt with Picasso and hidden Cameo. Miniskirt is the only mini I can really grow.

Mosswood - I can't really tell the difference. I have three Liberty's and one Majesty. The Liberty's are a little larger and more available.

    johnc

Mosswood, I agree Liberty is a little larger and listed with bigger leaves in HL.

Interesting is according to HL Majesty was introduced before Liberty but a note says "Identical to Liberty"? Seems it should be other way around. And Liberty gets all the information...marketing?

Sherry I remember you having Mini Skirt, sorry you lost them. All I can say is I plant my minis higher like is recommended for Dream Queen/Weaver & Great Expectations. I noticed you did not post your DQ this year, I hope it was just an oversight.

Lisa/sandyslopes fingers crossed for Mellow Mood. I don't recall anyone posting it before.

Debra your Mouse Trap looks great.

    hosta-maker & Mosswood more lovely m. A.

utog what a nice Marilyn Munroe. Your MIL is a lucky woman.

    Milkshake

    last modified: 4 years ago

Laurie, after nursing my Dream Queen for three years, it looked great last season…….then those darn rabbits ate/tore it up down to the ground. I hope it comes back. Rabbit damage like that has devastated a few of my hosta, stunted for several years afterward. Here is what it looked like before the rabbits got it, nice big foliage.

Mosswood, jocl17 and old_dirt, I had those same thoughts about Liberty & Majesty….. but also wonder where Ivory Coast fits in with the other two.
    debra

Sherry so discouraging! It was strong so it should return but I can relate to it taking a while to get vigorous after being eaten down. Deer are my nemesis. I don't know if you would be willing but I spray with Bobbex every 2 weeks and it works really well.

    Midnight Sun

Great to have you posting Kathy. What a nice specimen.

You made me laugh out loud Paula! I especially liked the first one regarding showing your hosta collection---and I am stilling laughing while I am writing this! So true!

Saija, your garden is so neat and tidy! Even your mulch is of uniform size in thickness and color! What kind of mulch is it? You have me wondering!

Marrakech. Took it out of a pot and planted into this bed with some heuchera that I propagated. Picture taken in September.

    Mighty Mouse in June

    Mini Skirt

    Another Mini Skirt

    Munchkin Fire

NewHostalady: Thanks. I must confess, I publish only neat and tidy pictures. And only great looking hostas, ugly ones must grow before they get access to Hosta ABC, LOL. I have weeds and mulch is not always neat ( birds spreads it). Last year I did not take pictures because, I didn't have time to weed.

My mulch is pine chips. I don't know what is real word in english.

That Monkey Business is a winner. Almost bought one a few years ago. The following winter UtOG starts posting pics of her Monkey Business. Now I'm sold. I start looking to order it and can't find it anywhere. Later I found one, put it in my cart but as I was completing my order someone else snapped it up. Ended up buying Proud Treasure last year for a similar look (hopefully).

    Gotta think quick Steve……… 😄😆🤣

    debra

Was it you??? At least it went to a good home.

Please forgive me, Steve, but Martini for the first 3. Last is new addition summer 2021, Mariachi.

It's OK. You (and only you) are allowed to have nice Hosta I don't have.
