Window delay-potential issues?

We like most people are waiting on windows for our new construction. We were told early on about the potential for a delay. We are coming up on a month delay since the window install was originally planned. My question is are there any potential issues we should look out for due to missing windows?
Current state of construction:
Exterior" roof finished, sheathing insulation installed, siding in stalled, brick not installed
Interior: framing only, wiring and ac mostly installed

Cover the openings to deter vandals and infestations human and otherwise! (Not to mention water in all its wonderful forms.)

In many places, the copper wiring would be long gone.

If this is a tract build and the house is not actually yours till it's delivered, it's all on the builder.

Our builder has continued to progress with internal work until our windows arrive, they are delayed from May 2021. They say March now. We discussed risks like mold, etc, they regularly wrap the house, and thankfully, the weather has been ok, but I would be worried if there was drywall, and rainy weather. The wrap has been good so far, though. Best wishes and fingers crossed for a speedy delivery.

@amy10n, we are looking at possible big window delays as well and I am curious… is your builder doing all interior work (insulation, drywall, flooring, lighting, paint etc) before windows? I am genuinely curious how people are getting creative safely in this crazy supply chain delayed world

Hi @raegrif37 yes. We did meet to discuss risks with this, such as not having windows look patched on. They agreed to add any needed framing to ensure we have a finished look. I worry about rainy days but they rewrap if needed to ensure it is covered. Now, we have hard floors in, cabinets, trim, sinks, faucets, and this week they started to cut the driveway. But no stucco outside yet, the windows are def a dependency for applying stucco. Best of luck to you.

If was me I would proceed if they took extra precautions . I would also be inspecting immediatley after any rain or snowfall. I’d watch out when it begins to thaw. I’m hessitant to recommend the green light since there was a post here not that ago where the big water problems due to bad prep IMO.

This is our problem as well. Windows ordered late November, and they expected 16-18 weeks, so that's THIS week. Crickets. Builder has proceeded on to interior items (plumbing, insulation, HVAC, electrical) and roof while he waits. Says he can't install siding without windows, which makes sense to me. Our problem is that we couldn't stay in our rental (in a college town, rentals are gone up to a year in advance). Looks like we'll move into inlaws' basement if house isn't done by end of June...

@raegrif37 just fyi that we finally had windows installed, they had to cut some of sheetrock to install, however, the work done to ensure the wall around the windows looked ’clean’ did turn out very good. We are pleased with the result.

@Amy10N So glad to hear this news!

@amy10n this is amazing news! So thankful! Goodness you waited long enough for those windows, so I am so glad to hear the installation went smoothly!

On another note, I found out the trapezoid windows we had installed were 400 series, not 100! Our 100 single hungs are expected this week so we will see if they arrive, apparently they have shipped so we will see🙏🏻
