Get some black construction paper and cover up the garage trim. Easier than painting if you want to try out the look.

I have tried the paper thing, and my issue brought me to houzz haha- as I was hopeful to have someone’s (or many) eyes to help with the overall cohesiveness- like what makes the most sense… this is my first exterior paint job, and I was excited to choose… and now I don’t have faith in my choices anymore haha ;-)

I think it looks very sharp the way it is. The white around the garage door does provide some emphasis - the trend nowadays is to de-emphasize the garage door. You could also try a semi-gloss for the garage trim the same green color as the house instead of black. That would make the whole garage including trim blend in with the rest of the house.

There are real experts on here so I would listen to those folks for sure but I think you're really close :) I agree with @apple_pie_order - if it were me I would try black construction paper on the trim for garage and see what I thought. I would definitely do a bright/contrasting color for the front door so it doesn't recede so much. I would be probably also get much larger and more substantial outdoor lighting for either side of the garage and front door. Then I would probably live with it a while, sometimes it just takes bit for our eye to get used to change.. I think it looks lovely!

hmmmm I might be tempted to paint the door Different Gold just as an experiment? I do like front doors that are friendly colors

I’m no pro, but I would paint out all the light trim the same as the house color and just go with the few black accents you already have. Add some brass accessories? House numbers, lighting, etc. Some black planter and perhaps two black metal awnings over your upper windows. Cedar front door would look beautiful too…

Wow thank you all so much for the recommendations!! I should have included that I am trying to decide on door color- I want to give it a pop, but without adding too many colors… that gold sounds nice! I thought an orange or red would give that effect too?

Thank you for the compliments on how it is already painted… it may just be because it’s still pretty new to us and we haven’t adjusted… or perhaps the idea on just painting the window and garage trim the same green as the house could be the ticket! I proposed that to my husband who said he didn’t think that would look very good… I can now say I got feedback on houzz!! Lol!! I may play a little more with the color apps…

Matching the garage trim to the house body color would be my choice.

I would leave the house as is and paint the door SW “mindful gray” also. You have a very cute house.

I see cedar shakes in the center above the front door. What if you painted that the same almost white color? It seems like the house only has a couple of architectural trim features to highlight, so that extra would draw the eye and connect to the garage trim, window trim and the pillars below. Just a thought.
