Was the pool filled with a garden hose or was water trucked in? We truck water in on every job. Filling the pool quickly is the best way.

Was any sequestering agent added during the fill? Was the water chemistry checked and balanced daily for 2 weeks after fill? The first 72 hours after filling is paramount regarding properly balancing the water. The pool must be brushed twice a day for two weeks. More brushing is even better.

The plaster takes 28 days to fully cure. No salt can be added for at least that time. It's recommended to even wait a season prior to firing up a salt system. No auto cleaners or wheeled vac heads for the same time period or longer if you can.

Acid should always be diluted with the pool water and poured in the deeper section uniformly. Straight acid is heavier than water and can go directly to the surface and cause damage.

For now, have your water professionally tested. Keep your chlorine at zero if you can. If you really need to add chlorine, add liquid and keep a low residual.

pH and Total Alkalinity should be 7.2-7.6 and 100 PPM respectively. Any higher on either can cause scale. Calcium Hardness max 400 PPM. Also, any higher will create scale.

Using a scale remover/controller either Jack's Magic products or Easy Care Beautec.

The plaster is not fully cured so some of the color variations may disappear over time and become uniform.

Your not the only one with this issue. Most of the time it's caused by improper start up procedures and mismanagement of chemistry.

Sometimes plaster crews add too much calcium in their mix and it causes discoloration.

The French Gray and other colors that are dark or darker, tend to have color variations.

The PB came last week and poured some acid and brushed it, it did get a little better, but there is still color variation and its so frustrating. Also I am worried that could damage the surface.

I’ve been brushing twice daily, but I have not tested the water as the PB is in charge of cleaning and chemically balance it weekly.

Also the pool cleaner suggested they lower the water and do an acid wash and that should help and fix the issue?!
