This is far from the worst looking house I have seen pictured on this forum. You have much more attractive brick than some people do. That being said, I am at a loss as to how you would make a split level home look French country. Maybe you would prefer the siding to be a warm white instead of the blue-gray? The bright yellow of the front door is jarring, but is this a color you chose? You might get better advice if you also post a picture of the brick close up so people get a good idea of the color. Were you thinking about painting the brick? That is usually not advised, but people still do it. Let us know if are considering that.

I meant to say I like the colors of French country or Italian rustic. They look inviting. The bricks are an orange-red up close. I am struggling to find colors that match them, that's why I was thinking about painting/limewashing. I chose the yellow door because it makes me happy, but I am not opposed to changing it. It was black before. Here is a close-up picture of the brick.

Is the part by the front door brick, or siding, I cant tell from the pictures. I do like the brick and would like to see it left the way it is. If you do decide to paint it, please do not use regular paint. You need paint that is designed especially for brick. Brick needs to be able to breathe, or the paint will peel. Romabio is the name of a paint that is for brick. I actually like the color the siding is, but, would like to see the area by the front door, the same color as the siding, so it doesnt look like two houses stuck together. Its a nice looking split level, and split levels are one of my favorite designs.

The area by the front door is brick. The only part that is siding is the upper left side of the house, as well as the back wall under the carport.

Choose a warm, cream or yellowish/peachish off white for the siding. Paint the shutters and trim a warm, medium brown. You coukd try yellow, if you get the right shade.

Your house is nice, but the gray with black shutters is not warm.

Thank you for the suggestions. I agree the current colors don't feel warm or inviting to me. At first, I refused to paint the brick because I don't want to damage them, but just trying to find a warm color to go with the brick color is my problem. Many of the other houses in my neighborhood have painted their brick, but I don't want to if I don't have to.
