People on this forum have reported living with plywood counters for months until the counter of their choice was available and fabricated. You can either decide to do that, or keep looking for other Quartz patterns that would go with your kitchen. There are so, so, many Quartz patterns.

Also, is there another MSI Quartz dealer in your area that has Calcatta Miraggio Gold in stock at their warehouse?

Have you called MSI directly to ask them about a timeline for when they are manufacturing and shipping the Calcatta Miraggio Gold quartz? Just a heads up that sometimes when a manufacturer stops manufacture of a Quartz pattern, and restarts it again several months later, it looks slightly different, like a 2.0 type of thing. We have seen reports of that on this forum - where the homeowner got a counter a bit different from the sample they saw that was from the earlier manufacturing run.

So our dream Cambria counter(annicca) was back ordered for 6 months. I had designed around it so we put in plywood and a cheap Home Depot sink kit and waited the 6 months. So glad I did! I love my new counters installed last week. Put contact paper on part of the counter to help keep clean. Plywood is totally an option or I think we could have even done Formica for not much more?

Wow our Cambria only took 9 weeks. I thought that was a long time between templating and delivery.

My fabricator told me it typically takes 2 days for them to get Cambria in and a week for fabrication. They were shocked after they templated when they called and found out our design was back ordered. Just was installed 2 weeks ago.

Thanks everyone! Plywood may be the way to go, though I’m having a hard time coming to terms with that option after waiting so long to get to this point. But best to wait and be happy, right?

Im living with a single burner induction cooktop and a small refigerator within the giant cutout for my thermador tower fridge/freezer, we ordered them a year ago, they are backordered, i hope they are worth the wait. If you love what you picked, make the small sacrifice and just hope your quartz gets delivered sooner. You will be happy in the end. I have never seen a color combination like you have chosen and i love that green color. It took a lot of thought for your selections, now follow through and be proud of your beautiful kitchen. I hope the rest is smooth sailing for you.

@newkitchenny55 I would love to see your kitchen with the Cambria Annicca. Fun fact about that material.. did you know it was created for the Minnesota Vikings? It's a very cool quartz.

I lived with a temporary kitchen with 2x4 and plywood shelving and a plywood coutertop with contact paper for something like 4 months when our kitchen ell needed major structural renovations. Totally doable, though not elegant.

@newkitchenny55 It's awesome! I love love love when people take a risk and put their personalities into design. This counter is freaking awesome! I only sold it one time but it looked fantastic installed. Your kitchen is beautiful. And yes, Cambria is a family owned business in Minnesota. They even own their own Quartz Quarry. Annicca was made for the Minnesota Vikings. Thank you for sharing with me :)

Be patient & reselect alternatives.

Most fabricators won't stock full slabs.

@Lisa it was totally worth the wait! If you see something that speaks to you, the few months of waiting will seem like a blip a few years down the line. I'm not even a month past installation and I've already put the plywood out of my mind. I definitely 2nd guessed myself during the wait though since Annicca is so different. But purple is my favorite color so it was totally the way to go.

@Jeffrey R. Grenz, General Contractor I guess it all depends where you live. Where I worked in the northeast we carried slabs of quartz for Cambria, MSI and Caesarstone. Here in Florida when we went looking many fabricators had slabs of quartz. Not all the brands obviously but I had no trouble seeing quartz from Cambria, Caesarstone, MSI, Daltile, Radianz ...

Don't expect today's availability to resemble anything prior to COVID. Shortages & competition for materials is the new norm.
