Experience with Farrow and Ball in home paint consult?

Hi!

Considering getting a Farrow and Ball in-home paint color consultation prior to repainting interior. Boston area. Has anyone had experience good/bad with this? Anyone in particular to recommend for this? TIA!

I had the consultant from Anthi Frangiadis Associates New Bedford MA come to my home. (Home | Anthi Frangiadis Associates) It was a good experience

Is this a consultant from F&B or just some random paint consultant. BTW I love F&B paint but youa re limited to their colors and BTW color matching does not work well if you want a cheaper paint color matched to F&B It also needs to be applied as instructed to do the job right so a painter who is experienced with F&B

@Patricia Colwell Consulting It was a Farrow & Ball consultant trained on their paints

Thank you all for your feedback. Yes, @Patricia Colwell Consulting it seems that this is a service offered through F&B. I was wondering if it was worth doing, and if their service was good versus getting an independent color consultant who can recommend a broader array of paints (brands) as you mentioned. I love the color palette of F&B, but not the prices! :)

@jck910 thank you so much. Was your consultant able to recommend beyond the F&B line? Did you find it helpful in creating a palette for the home? Thank you so much!

She was definitely limited to Barrow & Ball. She did talk about palette for the entire home. I was just painting the living room (the color I had chosen a few years before wasn't working for me) so she had to work with the floor & textiles that were already there. I will be honest she gave me great ideas but, in the end, I could not justify the expense of the paint & labor for Farrow & Ball. I used similar Benjamin Moore colors.

Are you starting from scratch? New furniture, rugs etc? You may be better off working designer not just a paint consultant. Where in the Boston area are you?

I have used F& B paint for many clients and some have not repainted in 15+yrs with kids so IMO the price is right for what you get .There are no similar colors from BM or any other paint maker what makes F&B so lovely is the amount of pigment in their apint and you can actully fee the difference if you compare the weight of a gallon of F&B to BM

@Patricia Colwell Consulting I definitely see the difference. I plan to price it all out, and if it works within the budget then I will definitely go for it!

@jck910 We are using existing floor, and some furniture (that I'm not married to), and I have a fairly good sense of what I want to achieve for the space, so I'm resisting using a designer for now. But I could definitely use the help on creating a cohesive color palette. I easily become overwhelmed by all the choices and I don't know the "science" behind color (what to look for, how to use certain colors based on light in the room, time of day, etc,..).

    We are in MetroWest suburbs.

Thank you @Lori A. Sawaya this is just what I needed to hear! :) And what's your opinion on working with a color consultant that may lean more towards the science? Would it be better? For example, what if using the science and just by looking at the space the light, floors, etc may not be the best fit for F&B paint. Would it be better to have someone who can say "yes, in this room i would recommend f&b...... but in this other room, you're best with....BM/SW, etc..." Thank you!
