I don't know about the sketch, but the whole idea is interesting. Photo of gal looks to be around the 1960's, and she is in the same pose as the nude sketch. (Notice the fellow, bottom right of the photo, who?) Someone (the photographer) was very creative. I hope you find some info, but keep the two together....kinda special. You could write a short story about a hippie gal, in love with an artist, who photographs her to reflect his art.

I think it is a original sketch from a sketch book. At the top there is part of another sketch showing so there were probably several sketches on a large sketch pad that this one was removed from. Whether it's done by a known artist I would not know.

I would imagine a lot of artists do these type of sketches when planning out a painting or sculpture.

FWIW, I have a number of similar gesture drawings in my old sketchbooks from college drawing classes.

This is an original drawing black ink and I noticed the same thing you were looking at in the photo but actually it’s her shoe also the other part that’s at the top of the drawing is I believe Mark like an HM or MH also if you look at the drawing in the eyes I’ve seen that kind of wiggle lines on some other drawings but I can’t remember where I seen them but this is an original , no print here’s a photo of the back of the drawing , You can see a little of the ink coming through the paper and also the drawing Marks of the pen or brush whatever he used or she used, also the little round paint mark has dried up where it’s cracking and I took a black lighter blue light flashlight and focus it on the paint and it did not glow so that tells me that. the paint is old and also the frame is old, how old I don’t know and here’s a better picture of the M that I think is. I drew on the last paper like the MH or whatever it is it goes up under the little piece of paper and it was a curve and back down but I really appreciate you guys taking the time to lend me some comments thank you very much have a nice day .

I agree that the lines at the top are part of another proto-sketch- it looks to me like a chin and lines at the sides which would be the neck.

it is not a proto-sketch , he use lines like this in artwork, these artist have the same look.

It's a sketch. Look at the left knee of the subject. There are two slightly different renditions. I agree with Izzy Mn that it is a page from a sketch book, someone liked this sketch well enough to put it in the frame but it was not intended as a finished artwork.

No, I haven't seen the sketch before. It's an original. A one of a kind.

And if it's in the style of Matisse, that's not a coincidence. There's no better way to practice your technique than following the master!

It’s clearly an original, and fom the style, someone who is an experienced artist. A sketchbook is not something an artist necessarily draws a finished work in, but essentially jots down ideas to see how they look before including that particular pose or object or whatever in a finished work. So, many different ideas can end up on the same page. It’s like doing a test run on scrap paper.
