Entryway finishing touches!

Hey everyone! I could use a little guidance on finishing my entryway.

Is my mirror okay sized? The table under it opens for shoe storage and it’s super narrow which I needed because the front door swings open into it. I can easily update knobs.

Which entry rug do you like? The room adjacent has very bold patterned colorful curtains in it and it’s an open concept so when walking to the front door you would see the curtains and the entry rug at the same time. That’s why I was leaning toward jute, to avoid a chaotic clashing dilemma. :)

We hate the ugly tile, our stair carpet needs to go, and we are shopping for a prettier front door….but for now this is what I have to work with. Thanks for your guidance!!

Here are some rug ideas. I’m not sure if I should do a square size in front of shoe cabinet or go with a runner.

    Much prefer the other drapes

I’m confused. Did you change the drapes that are seen in the first photo, or is that not the living room? Is there a rug in that room? Consider doing a 5’ x 7’ dark blue rug with little pattern in the entryway, which would be rather neutral.

Ha! Ha! @mcconkie11 No offense taken. You’re either an animal print person or you’re not. I am! I guess you won’t be doing your stairs like mine either 😹:

Does it ever rain or snow where you live? For that reason alone I'd never use jute by an entry way door. Wet shoes, umbrellas, boots and inside jute rugs don't go together in my opinion.

I also think you can use a larger rug. You said you don't like the tile. A rug could cover most of it.

I still have the other drapes! Haha oh and I live with kids, can you tell??

It rains a lot! No snow.

I would select a larger rug and add a buffet light.

I love the second rug posted by Beverly. Blends very well with living room rug and drapes

I’m sorry, it was actually the rug you posted after Beverly’s rug.

Hi Stacey! Which one? I posted a few.

Oh I see now, the orange

    Current fave….

I love the top rug you posted. In your room it looks a gray/tan with a little peach in it. I love how it fills that space.
A great transition to every space that intersects your entry.

Yes that one Lisa likes too!

Search Rosman washable area rug. See if you like

I’m pretty sure this is the one you are both referring to. It’s very neutral but not boring. Bohemian but can go modern and traditional as well. I like it!

I am glad I looked at this thread. I had heard there were other washable rugs besides Ruggables. These look lovely and so much less $. I still can't decide if I will go that route but it's nice to have so many other options.

I like so many of the rugs you have shared . I do like the one directly above this post.

Just thought I’d share… this faux cowhide is also washable with great reviews. For anyone interested!

My rug in the room next to the entry has a diamond in the center so now I’m thinking about how the other one is too similar. But I did find this light brown one. Thoughts? I’m ready to be done and just buy something!

This one has different shapes altogether but it not as neutral in color. Guys I have analysis paralysis!!!!! Final thoughts?? 1) Darker neural with diamond center 2) light brown 3) this colorful yet muted one (see below) Please vote. 😄

What is the darker color in your living room rug? Gray or the taupie/brown (What is the color?)
I like the last one you showed too, w i wonder if your entry rug should have the same color as the dark in your living room rug.

It’s dark but the rug also has brown/beige threads in it!

    Here’s #3 option

Close up of option 3. This one is muted but has soft cheerful colors.

Any time you have the option of using a natural fiber....take THAT option. Jute is nice. Any time your adding plastic....or an oil based fiber....it lowers the look. A hand knotted rug looks better than a machine made rug. Think "high end" when decorating even if your distressing a wood piece. JMO

Nicole - I understand, and very good point. But I live with kids in a rainy city so a washable rug seems very logical to me.

Oh yay!!! The last two we talked about would be perfect. IMO.

Maybe you could lay a blanket down in your entry and fold to the different sizes. See which one looks best to you. I'm still voting 5x8, assuming your entry tiles are 12" square.

I do like the Rosman rug as it has blues in it to coordinate with living room

oooo yes BIG square jute rug reaching from front door and encompassing stairway landing.

If size of rug creates a neat border of entry tile around it, maybe a repeat of nearby blue, or other? Says it's 55% Jute, 40% New Zealand Wool, 5% Cotton.

Idk if you're considering covering most of tile - and then walkers from LR up the stairs have rug...

New rug came! It’s non slip! Washable! And I think it looks modern and fresh but not too busy. I’m liking it. What do you think?

I’m going to put something colorful on the white cabinet (maybe an African woven bowl stacked on top of a book?) where else can I introduce color? Maybe on the slanted wall a pretty fabric wall hanging?

I like it just the way it is. Well done!

You could paint the interior of your entry door black. Add jute and black tray to shoe cabinet for keys etc.

Use SW Tricorn Black. In a satin finish. It will bring entry up a level. It picks up black in frame of mirror too!

    Looks perfect!

Well done! Where did you get your shoe cabinet from?

Thank you everyone!!! I truly appreciate all of your input.

We want to replace the door soon with one that will let more light in. Something like this. And stained wood on exterior.

Love the rug! Great door selection as well. Please share when you have it installed! You could get a couple of new umbrellas. They would be a practical accessory.

You could get a battery operated light for the table. These are from Target but there are lots of options.

I have another small wall that comes at the end of the tile after rug. I was thinking of putting another table there with lamp on it. The idea cabinet is super narrow (7” Deep!!) so I’d have very limited options for lamps there.

LOVE those umbrellas! Thanks for idea.

I would not go with the stained glass on the door. Black would be great though.
