Outdoor paint color help for house

This is a picture of the front of my house. I've painted it Spruce and kept the blue color for the doors and I'm just not happy with it. I am not sure what to do right now. The greenish color with the blue doors is not working and so I'm back to the drawing board. The yard is green and I try to have greenery and color in the front yard so I think the green house will just blend it in. I was hoping not to repaint doors but if someone has a better color combination suggestion, I will change them. Help!

You've made a feature of the garage door, so to change that, paint it to match the Spruce. It will fade and no longer jump out at you. Perhaps some of our gurus here will "sample" some new door colors for you to see. I advise you to tackle the landscaping this spring. It could be greatly improved.

The front door style does not suit the house IMO but I need to know a bit more about the style of house you like. I also find the entry to the house a bit confusing since you have the 2 doors I would run a walkway from the street to the door you want guests to use . I think this house coluld go in many style directions so maybe give us a bit of a clue as to style. What paint was the Spruce I checked both BM and SW only found blue Spruce . On my monitor the house looks taupy/ beige not green

Thank you for the comments. Yes I couldn't find a recent picture of the house with the green color so I posted the one I had before it was painted green. It's been snowing pretty good here so not sure how the picture will look like. But, I could put a photo on here today. I'm not sure what style but something nice clean and the colors pop. Something low maintenance. We use the side door next to the garage - never use the front door.

You're never going to get good color advice without a pic of the colors.

this is a picture of the colors I currently have on my house.

I do like the new color.

    1. Paint the garage door to match it including the white frames around the little windows

    2. Paint the side door white. The main door should be the only door painted the focal color

    3. The storm door looks to have a line across it - is that an up/down screen? That style doesn't belong on a door with a window.

    4. The storm door should be painted blue to match the exterior door

    5. Update the landscaping

You think I should paint the garage door the same color as the house? I'm just concerned that once it warms up the green will be overpowering. Green lawn, green shrubs and now a green house....Debating on going back to a tan color...

I do like the new color. --> Thanks

    1. Paint the garage door to match it including the white frames around the little windows

--> What color should I paint the garage door?

    2. Paint the side door white. The main door should be the only door painted the focal color

--> I thought it was good to be consistent and match them both?

    3. The storm door looks to have a line across it - is that an up/down screen? That style doesn't belong on a door with a window.

--> Yes it has an up/down screen. We like to keep that door open for air flow in the summers

    4. The storm door should be painted blue to match the exterior door

    --> It is painted blue.

    5. Update the landscaping

--> What part of the landscaping needs improvement?

Yes, as @jck910 suggested. I don’t think the green will be too much. As it is now, the garage door and the secondary door are highlighted by the blue paint and white window frames. Best to make the primary entry the focal point. It looks like the front door has a Victorian style oval glass insert which is not consistent with the style of your home.

I was looking at a door like this for the front one and maybe paint the side door and garage door a different color?

Once it warms up enough to plant, you should more with the landscaping and not worry about all the green. A green lawn and green shrubs do not a landscape make. Add some flowers and blooming shrubs.

I love that last one. Lots of color! Yes!!

What beautiful flowers are shown in the last photograph! They are so inviting!

To the right of the front door I have a Japanese maple tree and a whole LOT of rocks there that would need to be dug out. ... On the left by the bigger window is a rhododendron shrub.

If the green is overwhelming to you for the garage door paint it white. The blue is too much

No when you have 2 doors on the front one should be the focus. The new door you like would look very nice and the wood is great. Then paint the other door and garage door white. Do not introduce another color on those doors. Garages are not design statements they are functional

If the storm door is blue - what is that white rectangle?

The pines are too close to the house pretty soon they will be too large for foundation plantings plus the one on the left is too close to the rhody. Maybe move the left one to the left of the picture window and add some low plants under the window.

It took me two years to dig rock mulch out of a bed so I could plant day lilies there. Worth it to me.

If the storm door is blue - what is that white rectangle? It's the screen part that can be opened for air flow. We like to open that door and let light and fresh air through it.

We've had those pines by the front door for a long time. We've lived in the house for 22 years so alot of the plants have had lots of time to grow...and maybe over grow? Never thought about doing something different with the pines by the front door. Interesting. Thank you for the suggestions.

I would paint the garage door and the door a cream or white to match the trim on the house

The side door and garage door?

I like the green better on the garage door. The white stands out too much and makes the garage door the focal point, and you do not want it to be. The side door looks good white. The blue is fine on the front door. I dont mind the white storm door.

Using the same color green as the house color? for the garage? I think it stands out quite a bit too.

    Something like this?

Nice mockup with the white doors. I like it because I have mine that way. I kept both doors white because the shutters are black, and I didn't like the look of the door black.

Although it looks gray in this picture it is actually a blue/green. I know most on this site say to remove shutters on double windows but they are original to the house. We removed the shutters that were on the sides of the door and added the lights

Your home is very pretty with lovely contrasts. I love the bright white placements, and the accentuating black shutters. They, along with the arborvitae and other plantings, soften the side door’s appearance while lending prominence to your front door. It is an ideal treatment!

Thank you all for your input. Definitely some good ideas to tackle this spring.

Wood/cedar doors would work with greenish siding

My house is green now - I've been looking at alot of houses on my way in and out of work. The biggest thing is finding a front door/storm door combination that looks good for the front. Then, paint the side door white and the garage door white. Although I kind of like that look like you have on the image.

What do you think about that?

I love the white for all of your doors. It’s a fresh “Hello!”, a pure and happy greeting when you come home, the smiling openings accompanied by the smiling eyes of the white windows.

Adding the depth of contrasting color in your evergreen landscaping, particularly to provide a combination of camouflage/accent to your side door as a way of politely directing guests to the front door, all sound wonderful!

I believe you will be even happier with the main paint color on your home because of the accentuated contrast. Your front door in a bright glossy white with a full view storm door, probably with a beveled edge to the glass, should show off your front door more prominently. Although I did not see where your rhododendron and Japanese maple plants are, I expect you will want to pull the rich red tones of your Japanese maple tree as your bit of an accent in a wide reddish burgundy ribbon with a wired edging. (I picture a water silk ribbon, but whatever style suits you would be nice. Color and sheen will be especially important.) Such a gorgeous bow with ties over your glass sounds like a pretty addition to me. With white and possibly touches of gold in your door decoration, all with rich glossy greenery in it to promote the adornment, seem like a fine welcome.

From that point, you will be able to see what else you want to do for placing your carefully chosen landscaping. Rich evergreen suitable to your environmental conditions will provide the next layer of your creation. That is my vision.

I believe you will love your home, and I wish you total happiness with whatever you choose. . Please share a picture and your thoughts! Best wishes, whatever you decide!

I just noticed the striking red cedar doors! Those also are pretty.

    P. S. I still love your idea of all white doors.

I think the picture above looks really good. Makes the house look larger. I also like the reddish color door for your main door, and green that matches the rest of the house for the door that you yourself use.
