Consider drawing a floor plan showing all the existing rooms with all the wall removed as indicated in your post. Seeing all the space will allow you to consider new options....the fridge is the most used and space taking appliance in the kitchen with multiple people using at the same time. Cut templates for the DW, Stove, MW, and Fridge and start moving the templates around.....personally I think it works to have a fridge in an open area near eating area. Play with it and post your results and then get opinions.....and it is always a good idea to purge your kitchen and think about where you want to store the basics and the extras! Small kitchen can be so efficient and easy to work in. Can't wait to see the floor plan ideas you come up with.

Post a floor plan. And where I live changing appliance placement, removing walls and replacing floors, cabs and counters does usually cost onwards of 100k. A very affordable option in the immediate would be to buy a cabinet depth fridge.

A floorplan would be the best idea, the clutter in the kitchen is distracting, i think you would get better quality ideas instead of organizing ideas. Thats step 2.
