Garden Cacti & Succulents Design Dilemma

Gollum Jade help!

last modified: 4 years ago

Hello, I live on the east coast and recently purchased a large specimen gollum jade from california. It arrived two days late and was exposed to cold as a result as the heating packs stopped working within 2 days. I potted the plant immediately upon arrival in succulent soil and waited a couple of days to water to allow the plant to warm itself. I watered at a medium level so as not to saturate. There are an increasing number of yellowing leaves falling off and I can’t tell if the plant needs more or less water. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! It may need more water given the large pot it’s in, but wanted to seek advice first.

From both photos, the leaves doesn't look like it needs water. When you start to see small wrinkles on the leaves, then you can water. Some of the leaves will turn yellow and fall off which is normal if it was exposed to the cold for a period of time. The ones that are slight yellow will not turn back to green, just wait for it to fall off. You should be able to see some new growth in a few weeks. Your plant looks healthy. Cheers

I think this was the wrong time of year to do this but plants are never happy when moved to a completely different environment so give it a chance to acclimatize but my guess a bit of frost bite maybe so just be patient Jades are usually pretty tough.

IMO, it needs time to recuperate. You will likely loose some leaves; but new ones will grow in summer. Don't over-water it! Succulents recover from underwatering better/faster than from overwatering. How cold was it while in transit?
