STUCK with my new Living Room

We recently moved into a new home, and are finding that our current living room furniture just does not work. We have never had a fireplace to decorate around before, and just can't quite figure out what pieces we need to get or get rid of to make this living room work. Pretty much everything in the pictures is negotiable, except the rug and the location of the TV. The sofa table currently to the right of the fireplace and the large piece of furniture that's under the window we are trying to get rid of. Those don't need to be considered in an arrangement.

What we have thought so far:

- The sectional is not optimal. A sofa/loveseat/accent chair scenario would be better for this room. But maybe some great accent chairs in front of the windows would balance out the room and save us from having to replace the sectional? This is really only the place we think the sectional looks "ok" in this room.

- Paint the wall with the fireplace and TV a bold color and do some funky open shelving or bookcases on either side of the fireplace?

- The ottoman is currently full of toys. The ottoman doesn't have to stay, but we need to incorporate toy storage somehow.

Thoughts? Suggestions?! :)
