Hi! I have a traditional 70's colonial and we are getting vinyl siding. Cost is a consideration, so I don't see that changing. I want it to look current, but want to avoid trends that are on their way out.

So. I'm looking for advice on a few things:

1) color, I think I have to keep it somewhat safe because this is a traditional style house without tremendous architectural styling that can handle bold/trendy colors

2) Dutch lap or clapboard? (see pic)

3) 4" or 5" siding?

4) white trim on the corners? I did a quick mock up using MS Paint - see pics

5) eventually, I would like to do a stone veneer over the brick, but for now the brick is staying
