According to page 64 of the installation instructions, the cooktop needs a precisely cut cutout in the countertop to support the cooktop. The lip of the cutout is to be 1/2" wide and 1/4" deep. If your current countertop cutout has a "crappy" (rough) edge how will it support the cooktop on all four sides?

1. What are the dimensions of the cutout in your countertop?
2. Is there a lip cut into the cutout on all four sides as required for installation of the cooktop?

Yes it says that. This cooktop is replacing a range. The width of the opening is perfect. Except for the back left rear where it looks like the fabricator slipped with the saw. It was covered by the range. The cooktop is supported by a frame. At the back is/will be a downdraft hood.

I'm trying to imagine how a cooktop which is supported by a countertop can replace a range which is a freestanding appliance. Hmmm. EOM
