Today i purchased a heat mat and thermostate with a probe. as you can see i have the probe in the seedling and the dome on top however the dome is loosing heat because its not on their properly because of the wire” for the probe”, is this sufficient for germinating my pepper seeds?

That gap won’t make any difference. It’s the bottom heat that matters, not the air temperature. The lid is as much for retaining moisture as heat. But I’m wondering why you need a probe. Doesn't the propagator have a thermostat of its own?

Thank you and yes there is a thermostat but it includes a probe so i assumed it needed to go in the soil, what else would you do with the probe?
