It is not dated. But I would say there is too much tan/yellow/beige in your room. Too matchy-matchy.

I love the blue. And I do have some blue in the rug, drapes and picture. The Wilmington Tan is also in my hall and up the stairs. would you do it all in the blue? what is the Blue you have pictured? Also what color is the last one? Neutral but sure brightens it!

Yes, the last color is neutral , close to Useful Gray SW or Ice Formation BM

I do think a tan wall color was widely popular in a past period of time, but I also do not think it's specifically dated. However, I think @Celery. Visualization, Rendering images hit the nail on the head that the room is very one-noted with a lot of tan/beige/yellow tones. I love her rendering of blue and I think that really wakes up the room.

I like your curtains. I think blue works great in your South facing room, but would be too dark in stars. I would go light neutral.

No color is dated, if that is the color you like and that goes well in your home. That said, I am not particularly fond of the existing color. But thats me, not everyone likes the same colors. The blue that celery just posted is gorgeous, and would look beautiful in your room.

Not sure how Celery got those wall colours in my room but am wondering how BM Collingwood would be in that space. i love the blue but i need to go more neutral.
