two or three level deck?

We are building a new deck and need some advice. We may do the same pavers as the pool for the lower level and make it a patio but I’m a little worried about the water we get between the deck and pool patio so we may just do another level of decking. We are going to go with Trex decking most likely.

My main question is how can I make the deck flow more to the backyard? Climbing the stairs seems to be a feat for people who are over for parties and I was wondering if we make it more of a three level or make the stairs have a landing halfway. We hardly use the top level except for the grill and a small table in the summer for coffee.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Terracing down to ground level with staggered areas would be beautiful.

if you incorporated built in seating a large tree or few, an area for a firepit with seating,a grilling/dining/kitchen space, with a pergola overhead, even a game space (cornhole/bocce ball) . Create a complete entertainment area. You'll be the most popular peeps in town.

I would say you want three distinct areas that are connected. The deck off the second floor is where you want a table and bbq as close to kitchen, I’m assuming. The slightly raised deck you want a cozy seating area and maybe a fire pit. The pool you want lounge chairs and relaxing.

Thank you for the comments and suggestions! It’s hard to see but before the black fence on the right, there is a firepit area in the pool area.

Why do you have water collecting between the house and the pool? Is there an uncontroled runoff issue? Whatever you do I would address that. There are several different possible causes and remedies for this issue.
