move central vacuum valve?

How big a deal is it to move a central vacuum valve? I really want a piece if furniture but it will block the valve and it’s the only one on the main floor. I’d probably need it moved 6 inches to the left. Is this a big deal? What kind of cost ? Thanks!

If the basement is unfinished, it may not be a big deal at all. Especially if you just plate over the unused outlet. Otherwise, there could be lots of drywall and painting repairs.

Contact local installers. I'm sure you're not the only one with that request.

If you do have the hose plate moved, have it inverted 180˚. Yours is installed upside down. The spring loaded cover should pivot upwards not downwards so that the weight of the hose cannot break the cover.

Moving the connection 6 inches to the left could be easy if there is no wall stud in the way and the piping is a flexible hose with some slack. This can only be determine by taking off the plate and looking inside the wall.

Vac piping is almost always thin wall (but not overly flexible) pvc.
