what if you reworked where the post go to give a new balance and flanked the outer windows, and put one flush over the door on two switches?

otherwise would equally space to recessed, and have their own switch, and put on deco over the door on its own switch. I would guess you would really only ever use the single light anyway.

These are both so super helpful! Love the ideas and thank you SO MUCH for taking the time to provide some images. You also are helping me in another way by picturing the posts. I like them better than I thought I would. I have been stressing over the size. I think I have determined 8" would be good. You seem super knowledgable- are the posts you have added look like what 8" would look like?

@RL Relocation LLC, I keep looking at both your drawings and really like your sconce idea under the front porch! However, I'm wondering how I cd make it work w the existing plan. (I've attached a pic of the front of the house; where the red marks are is where I was going to put the sconces that I've selected (Oak Knoll from Lampsplus.com), which I'm also attatching a picture of.)

Hmmm, I feel like that is a bit of overkill, I would not put all those lights up. Is that the garage on the left-hand side?
