Opinions needed

Hello, we are wrapping up our kitchen remodel and having a hard time choosing hardware.
I was looking at doing matte champagne or brass, however we have stainless steel appliances and I’m worried how that will look.
I’ve actually had a lot of feedback that suggests black hardware on the white cabinets and brushed nickel on the black cabinets. However, I have gold accents throughout our decor and nothing brushed nickel…

Also ignore the white back on the island, we are installing black shiplap to the back of it today!

Regardless of what accents are in other rooms, your kitchen is white, black and grey. I would keep the hardware to the cool colors, not gold. I would prefer brushed nickel. Easy to keep clean, easy to replace and match if it breaks.

I did not comment on your black shiplap to be nice.

So you cant use brass or a gold color if you have stainess appliances? nonsense. I would introduce another element to tie in with the gold color, like a faucet or lighting. You have to make it purposeful. You will get some good ideas for this. Give it time. Brass looks beautiful with a black backdrop. The shiplap idea for the back of the island will add a bit of texture.

    Definately use silver colored hardware.

We did brass with stainless. Looks great. We did use brass faucets though.

Black hardware looks too harsh against white cabinets for my taste and comes off as looking dirty.

I would use silver hardware whether brushed nickel, stainless steel or chrome. Needs to be a cool metal with your color scheme and not a warm color like gold (which similarly comes of as looking dirty, IMO.)

No black shiplap on that pony wall. Doesn't seem like the place to make a feature...and, even if you want a feature there, black shiplap will lose most of its texture owing to it being black. I would leave as is. You can always paint the drywall black. Or get 3-4 pieces of black foamcore, pin it up on the drywall to sample how black will look.

The counters will add the third element--no need for shiplap to be competing with the counters.

Stainless appliances are "neutral", don't let them influence your other decisions. Personally I think black or satin brass handles would look great on those cabinets!

And you can mix certain metal colors, but I recommend keeping them all the same finish (all satin, for example). Personally I choose nickel for the more expensive things like faucets because that color never goes out of style, and have more fun with handles and knobs since they're easier to swap out.

I agree, don't let the SS appliances dictate the hardware. I would suggest, however, polished nickel over brushed nickel if you go with nickel.
