Can't wait to see the answers, Alex, because I never used the original.

So far I used powder tide with bleach and tide with oxy and they both have the perfumy scent that can not tolerate. I dont want to buy the original and find out it smells the same. I see at tide.com they have tide clean breeze but I can not find it anywhere local. Is cleen breeze same as mountain spring? I do not see mountain sping at tide.com.

I can't physically handle P&G scents so I use the f/g versions. However, I had a problem and needed something a little stronger. So I bought a small box of Tide original. It wasn't bad in the washer but when I took the load out of the dryer, it was like I was hit with a ton of bricks. A strong, old almost stale old ladies cheap perfume. I had to rewash the load with copious amounts of baking soda, borax, hours long soak, then a soaking vinegar rinse and finally a cycle with f/g detergent and f/g downy.

I have heard that mountain spring smells like the old Tide original, at least it did before they messed with the scents. I think Walmart and Target carry it. Good Luck!

Thank you! Yes it looks like original is similar to what I have. I ll try to see if I can get mountain spring or clean breeze. I have Ariel from the UK which is made by P&G and it smells a little bit like mexican Ariel but not exactly. Strong out of the box but dissipates after a hot wash and the drier. Euro persil too leaves a very faint smell. I only used 2 Tbs of the Tide and sanitary wash but still it left a lot of pefume behind. I wonder if mountain spring or clean breeze is closer to Ariel. For colors I have Cheer and quiet like it but I am struggling to find a powder for whites that I can buy localy and only leaves a faint fresh smell.

How funny. Does one become immune to scents? I've used Tide Original powder purchased at Costco for many years. I notice no scent taking clothes from the dryer. I don't use fabric softener or dryer sheets ever, with our water there is no need.

I do set an additional rinse on the washer for just about anything in contact with skin....and that's a good deal of our laundry, but I don't notice anything resembling flowery lingering on our sheets, towels clothing. DH must not either or I would surely have heard about it.

@morz8 - Washington Coast I assume some people are sensitive to Tide smell and because of that they can smell even traces? I dont know. I have friends that they love it so they are the happy recipients of my barely used boxes.

I bought a bottle of Tide Simply liquid last year because I got it cheap. It smelled like dime store cheap perfume from yesteryear. I had to give it away.
