Have an azalea bush around 7ft high, lots of branches with few flowers, Looks like a pile of branches.

Another azalea bush a few feet away is full and great.

Can I just take a hedge trimmer and cut it back to 4 feet with a smaller diameter.

(will it work, I know true gardeners will cringe)
