Recent experiences with solid Brazilian Teak / Cumaru?

Hi! We finally found a floor that we think is the right color for our honey oak cabinets. However, the sample is labeled as ‘Viking Cumaru’ and I’m not finding that listed on the Viking website - I was just looking to learn more about it but now I’m confused. So of course, I went down the internet rabbit hole and have more questions and confusion. If anyone can shine some insight into any or all of these, I would greatly appreciate it!

  1. Does Viking have a solid Cumaru / Brazilian Teak?
  2. If yes, has anyone installed Viking’s solid Cumaru and what was your experience?
  3. Does ‘all’ Cumaru in the US come from the same mill with different names put on it or are there actual differences?
  4. Has anyone installed Triangulo’s Brazilian Teak?
  5. Or Unique Floors Brazilian Teak?
  6. Is there a better ‘brand’ for Cumaru?
  7. Can anyone explain the difference in different brands to me? (If there is one…)
  8. Is there any Brazilian Teak / Cumaru that is being harvested responsibly?
  9. Is there another comparable wood that has some honey, some brown, with just a touch of red that is medium dark?
  10. What’s the story with Cumaru gapping? Are people having issues with this?
  11. Does Cumaru hold up as well as oak for example?
  12. What else should I be thinking about?

I’m sorry I have so many questions and I really appreciate any insight you can offer!!
