Adding seating under the bay window would be nice, creating a nook for reading or studying. I like the bookcases that you’ve added.

IMO a window seat there will be a very dangerous idea especailly with kids. I also really dislike the bookshelf idea around the piano I think the piano is the star and needs no embellishment around it other than maybe a piece of art on either side and a good piano lamp. As for the bay please take those drapes off there and never tie them again. Why not just do roman shades on those windows Can we see the whole room since IMO the piano now needs a new home.

Thanks Linda. Trying to avoid seating since it will reduce floor space. Instead plan to put a couple of chairs and small table there.

Hi Patricia, appreciate the comment, however for years we had the piano (it’s an upright, see pic before) by itself and the wall looked empty. So trying the bookcase concept. My question was not about the bookcase but about the bay window design. Roman shades are a possibility. Buy again I wanted to put some modern trim, thinking about stained wood all around the bay window area. Not much else to put the piano since we have 2 6 foot French doors on the remaining walls. I would remove the draperies asap. They do not look great. If you want draperies, then they should be one way over to each side, and one panel on each window divider. Other than that, not much needs to be done there, since you are putting a table and chairs there.

Bay Window: Shades, Shutters, Blinds.

I would go with bamboo blinds and with 2 or 4 curtain panels.

Venetian blinds will give a nice clean, modern look to the windows. if you want to dress up windows more, install a curtain rod next to ceiling along header wall full length plus 3 or 4 “ beyond each side window. and install floor length side curtains only on either side of end windows.
