Dining room table with two benches

I am considering using benches instead of chairs on the sides of my rosewood Danish modern dining room table. There are very few pictures of tables with benches on both sides. I wonder if anyone has used benches instead of chairs and could shaire a photo. I am considering two Evan leather benches from Room&Board. Thanks

Agree about uncomfortable benches. 2 would remind me of the school cafeteria

I, too, would not use benches for dining. Not only would the bench be uncomfortable, how does the person in the middle get up during dinner. Swing your legs over (make sure you have your cute undies on) and then stand without any support. Not everyone is young and flexible.

    Love the Danish modern look!

Thanks! obviously I hadn't thought about all the implications of my idea. So the next question is what color chair would look good with this table. I am thinking off-white or light grey. I have black chairs but think i need some contrast. The table is not for this room. I will be moving to a new house with open floor plan. Greys/blues are dominant colors. Thanks.

I’d suggest waiting until you move in, especially with an open concept and consider what would work best with other furniture and decor. Chairs are not inexpensive and you may want to test in the space before making your decision.

Any of the chairs above would be a huge plus compared to benches .

Black frame chair enhances the spectacular grain of the rosewood!!!!!!!

What you have looks great but if you need to spend the money .......

    chairs from CB2

I agree with Beverly- a black frame chair looks great with your gorgeous rosewood table! My father, an interior designer, combined Breuer Cesca chairs and a Noguchi Akari light sculpture with our rosewood dining table.

Only sit at a table with a bench if I am eating at a very very casual indoor/outdoor restaurant that has really good food to make up for the bench!

Yes agree above! Lobster in Nantucket, with clam chowder ? Okay......give me the bench on the waterfront. .......A hot dog at the beach? Fine! Otherwise....uhhhh. no.

That is a beautiful table and chairs would look much more appropriate than benches. There are several good ideas here but the best one is to wait until you get moved into your new space.

Benches are great when space saving is required and children. Anyone over about 10 hates being trapped in the middle and no one wants to scooch down more than occasionally. DH made a trestle table and corner bench for our postwar one and a half story home. Before with chairs we sat two maybe three but after we easily sat 5 with a high chair. Guests will tolerate a set up like that in small doses. For every day with again very small children it fine, benches were vinyl.

Thanks again everyone for your comments. I will select a chair with a black frame. I like all the options suggested. I will post a photo in a few months.
