Need help for dated windowless primary bathroom

I have a primary suite bathroom that is windowless and blah. The bathroom is under an angled roofline. While I want to retain the current layout, tub and toilet, the dated brown tile and short vanity (30” high) have to go. The bath needs to be brighter. While renovating another bathroom, I moved a large mirror in here which really has made it feel better. Due to ductwork in the ceiling, a skylight/sun tunnel cannot be installed.

Any suggestions for mirrors over the vanity and vanity lighting? I hate cleaning grout. Would it ”cheapen” my house to replace the floor tile with sheet vinyl? Thoughts about a solid surface for the shower? I’m considering carrying the shower wall treatment onto the angled shower ceiling. Thoughts or suggestions for improvements?

ImI’m not sure why the original owners tiled half of the wall between the shower and the toilet. I thought the tile would cover the depth of the wall or ended at the edge of the shower wall.

Is the shower damaged? Or are you considering replacing it just to get rid of the tile and grout?

IME, a professional tile cleaner can be hired for a couple hundred dollars to clean and seal tile on walls and floor. You could do this for many, many years before it would match the cost of gutting a shower surround and replacing the floor tile.

I would start by replacing the exhaust vent fan with a combination fan and light. It will brighten the room quite a bit. Panasonic makes an excellent quiet fan and LED light combination.

Then paint the room with white primer.

Mount the current mirror with a custom white frame.

Consider a splashy wallpaper to add interest.

I like your bathroom. This might add sheen, and nice shape. LED candles on it.

white distressed surface, and matte metallic gold finish 24" wide.

Can say that the warm gold is like the tile color, just btw. If round or rectangular went above toilet, maybe shelves over towel bar.

I just wanted to add that I love sheet vinyl. I believe it’s the most waterproof option. I also think it’s the most comfortable to walk on. The vinyl we chose for our lanai feels like leather on bare feet.

Any chance of getting a skylight installed in the roof over the bathroom?

You can use a large format tile on the floor & walls to minimize grout lines.

    24 x 48

You can install a feature tile on the back wall of the tub

Thank you for brainstorming ideas to jumpstart planning changes for my bathroom. There is nothing wrong with the tile, I just don’t like the color of tile and I believe a whiter bathroom is more of my style. The exhaust fan has recently been replaced to better control the moisture, so it is not going to change. I like idea of a feature wall behind the tub. The bar light over the mirror seems off to me because of the angle. Would sconces mounted on the mirror help to distract from lack of symmetry?

This photo appeared in Latest Stories today. I thought this mural wallpaper would be an excellent way to bring the outdoors into your windowless bathroom.
