Hardwood floor identification help! We bought a house last year and are planning to renovate. Part of the project includes matching existing wood floors. The hardwood floor guy says he’s 80% sure we have Brazilian cherry. Based on extensive googling I’m not sure. Everything I read says that sun exposed Brazilian cherry will darken/redden with UV exposure. Our home has the exact opposite (dark under rugs). The second issue is that I found an old can of stain they used in the early 2000s when the house was built and the stain is reddish. Anyone have any idea? I’d really like to match with the same species. Everything (new and old will be refinished). The first photo is the best example of dark under the previous rug versus sun faded.
