We are purchasing a 1970's fixer upper - the house has good bones but in addition to obvious cosmetic updates, we need to redesign the space to work for our large family (we currently have 4 kids). I've included our wish list below - but we are having trouble redesigning the space in a way that would meet our needs and flow well. We are able to take down walls. I've included videos of the space which I hope provide enough information. The video of the kitchen cuts off right as I was scanning to the opposite wall - it's the wall that separates the kitchen from the entryway.

• Kitchen: does not have a pantry. Adding a walk-in would be preferred; 2nd choice would be pull out pantry cabinets
• Kitchen: also need to add an island (2nd choice peninsula), but as the kitchen is currently designed there really isn't space to add pantry cabinets along the empty wall plus an island (not wide enough)
• Entry: 1) don't like that the first thing you see when you walk in is the staircase, 2) there is nowhere for our coats, shoes, bookbags to be stored, 3) feels cramped and closed off as is, 4) the door is so tiny - would prefer more of a grand entrance (note: stairs to basement are directly under the stairs to the 2nd floor, so cutting into walls for under-stair storage is not possible)
• Family room: 1) french doors are random and awkward, 2) would like to incorporate built-ins somehow, 3) wondering if it would be better to have the family room off the kitchen (either flip flop where the kitchen and dining room are or flip flop where the family and entryway are?)

Thank you for any ideas - we will have a designer involved but I'd like to have some ideas to share with her and at this point I'm struggling to come up with a solution.
