What are you asking exactly about this floor? A 2-second google turns up that "Chatter Oak" is Shaw Floors "Anvil Plus" line. It is vinyl flooring. Here is a pic from the website. Can you ask a specific question for what you want to know?

I can tell it’s not real wood from the pic. It’s vinyl, in all it’s fake glory.

I noted that it is vinyl in my previous comment. No way to know what @Laney is asking about.

I'm new to this app so I apologize if anyone is seeing my post that are all over the place!! I honestly don't know what I'm doing ? My home caught fire & my husband was in icu & im left to do over an entire home on my own. I'm having a problem bc I had originally had " hardwood " in my dining room & tile & carpet in my downstairs. They are wanting to replace my flooring with this " Shaw Resilent flooring " and I obviously have no clue if it's considered good quality flooring which is what I'm asking basically? I know some have answered I guess I didn't see it but I thank you! I'm dealing with so much im just as confused as my post are !

So sorry to hear about your situation. Hoping your husband makes a full recovery.

When you say ”They” are wanting you to put the vinyl flooring throughout the house, are you referring to the insurance company? If so, you need to look at your insurance policy. Does it say they can dictate the replacement materials?

Many folks on this site have suffered extensive water and/or fire damage, and had to deal with insurance companies in the aftermath. Perhaps some of them will pipe in to help you.

I, for one, would not be happy with any kind of imitation flooring in my home.

@darbuka When I mentioned " They " I was referring to the " disaster restoration " company. They are the ones who are saying this. im in the middle of dealing w them now. Thank you I really appreciate your kind words & help !

Thank you to everyone who has tried helping. I'm not sure whats going on but & hopefully someone who has dealt w this sort of situation can point me in the right direction?

Your insurance should be paying for this, and they should be paying to make you whole. In other words, you should get back the quality you had before the fire. Please insist on hardwood flooring similar to what you had. It is better for the value of your home. There is nothing wrong with vinyl plank flooring, and it is very popular now, but, nothing beats hardwood. Sorry for all your problems and hope your husband does well. I do know you have to argue and fight sometimes to get things right with insurance companies. I had a house fire back in the 70's and it took a year to get everything done, and back to the way it was originally.

I can remember that some people have had issues with their insurrers and hire some type of advocate to assist. I think this comes out of your pocket. I would think that they'd have to replace like for like. Not sure about your financial situation, but you may be able to kick in some $$$ to get an all wood floor rather than vinyl.

I'm sorry about your situation and your husband's considition . . . so stressful.

Public Adjuster would be the person you would hire.

UPDATE! I spoke with the insurance company yesterday & today the contractor's " Found " all this " extra " money to replace my entire downstairs w real hardwood Flooring instead of the vinyl plank flooring. Im very happy to hear they will replace what I had originally had before the fire happened. I'm so very grateful & Thank everyone who had tried n has helped me through this process!

    That's so good to hear!

I’m happy he “found” the extra money. You should request an itemization from him as well as what the insurance company has been paying him. I’m so sorry you’re going through so much and hope your husband fully recuperates.

Great news, Laney! Hoping the entire restoration project goes smoothly from here on.

@Gerry I know right ? He said that they would take it from another project which was a few windows that didn't need to be replaced. Sounds like a good idea about the itemization ! Thank you & Thank you so much for all the good advice !

@Laney Wow! I'm so sorry you have to go through all of this and I hope your husband recovers quickly and fully! You really, really need a public adjuster. They take a small percentage of the insurance company payout but they insure that you get everything single thing you're entitled to under your policy. They catch a lot of things that the insurance inspector "misses". (My mother recently flooded her basement with a faulty hot water heater and her adjuster was amazing. We used one when we had a sewer line back up and had a great experience). You virturally do nothing. They take care of all communication with the insurance company and they fight for you because the more you get, the more they get. Good luck.
