I'm super confused about whether you like this piece or not. It is a lot of look for something you don't like. If that is the case, then give it away to someone who loves it.

Sometimes pieces are strong enough to stand on their own but more often, they need help from surrounding pieces to bring the best out of them. How are you using it, as a bowl? Do you have other elements that it relates to like artwork or pillows? When an inspiration piece is placed, it needs to be a part of a vignette where the elements relate to each other in that smaller area and then to the larger space. It's counterintuitive to people who like clean lines and more minimal looks but sometimes the solution is to add a little bit more.

I was a little confused on whether I liked this piece or not, I never really had a place to display it properly. The other two shelfs will be "coffee table" books and any suggestions

You’re off to a great start! Post photos when you’ve placed the books too please. Minor suggestion - remove the tags from the lamp cord. The bowl is very pretty and interesting- I hope you’re beginning to enjoy it more.

The photo of the water and houses is so pretty. Is that where you live? Beautiful settng! The piece really does echo the colors in the water and trees.

So there is still the lamp cord but I moved the shelf unit to the bottom of the stairs

It looks great, the bowl and the view are stunning. You could stop and enjoy it or consider whether you'd like to creatively experiment with taking the styling of your shelves up a notch. Because you have smaller objects on the lower shelves, you can add dimension, texture and vary heights by adding a few other objects and grouping them differently instead of having two vertical columns with two objects on each shelf. Much better! Try grouping the bottles on the bottom right and sliding them over to create some negative space between the picture and remove the flower vase. The lamp looks better than the other one in this grouping too - nicely done!

Not to thwart all of the work to reach this point - I love the bowl though think it is too substantial for the shelf. knowing my own furnishings, I place it on a table or on top of a dresser. i'd even use it as a fruit bowl.

I woud want a lamp on the shelf though. Small one??

Unrelated perhaps- have you used or heard of Quake Gel? I use it to secure anything I love (whether or not I happen to be in my quake prone area.) Helps a lot if you have a bunch of visitors or others cleaning your home. Just a thought. Oh and I like the bowl!

So thank you i wondered how i was going to secure i have visitors and a dog who comes flying down the stairs

Forgot: I buy “Quakehold! Gel” from Amazon. Clear stuff and it hasn’t marred any surface so far in my experience.

Like your second arrangement best-interesting but not cluttered looking. Second arrangement is one with linear lamp and two objects/groups on each shelf.
