Paint is usually selected to compliment fabrics and textiles. Is this your furniture? I would leave the beams and ceiling alone. Before selecting paint colors, I would change out lighting for 3500 to 4000K LEDs and add floor and table lamps, as well as under cabinet lighting in the kitchen. That will ensure that you are seeing realistic colors and that your spaces have adequate lighting. Paint the walls, including paneling. To do paneling, clean with TSP (tri-sodium phosphate,) rinse, let dry, lightly sand, tack off sanding dust, prime with 2 coats KILZ or Zinzer and paint with 2 coats of your color. There is a lot of orange tone in the flooring and it will have an effect on whites, so do lots of sampling (samplize.com) so you don't end up with undesirable undertones you didn't expect. Since the floor is so busy, you should hide a great bit of it under plain rugs. Wool sisal is a good choice. You can also buy a plain cut of carpet off a roll and have it bound around the edges.

whoa. save the money and replace the tiles. you don't cover up everything else!

the wood ceiling and beams make the house. if you must paint something white, paint the beams, leave the rest of the ceiling.

you have bigger fish to fry. the cabients, the floor, the brick fireplace, that horrid ceiling fan and the wall panels. I'd just remove the latter and replace w/drywall, (or, prime the panels and paint them white) paint the brick, and paint the cabinets. Or, polish the hardware/hinges, give the wood a good cleaning, sanding and refinish them.

If you can't get a new floor yet, go to a carpet store and get a giant remnant. have them bind the edges. (measure your room and get as close to the walls as you can)

that tile is so bad, I'd prob demo all of it, and live w/cement or plywood floors! but the wall to wall rug is a close second

Oh thank you! Yes the house came with the furniture. I think the couches look okay, so I will keep them. And the wooden chairs are not exactly my style, but great quality.
