I can’t tell from the photo – Are you dealing with two different angles going around the right hand side or just one? Is the light gray section actually flush with the white wall on its right? Or is it at one angle to the darker gray fireplace wall and a lesser angle to the white wall?

The hard wood floor does go the length of the room...right up to the fireplace.

Do you already have a plan for what will go where in the rest of your space? Do you plan to put a television over the fireplace or adjacent to it?Since that is a continuous wall to the left of the dining room window I would want know what goes there. If you have or need a tall storage piece, that looks like a likely location for one. But that in turn would relate to how you treat the asymmetrical fireplace wall.

I was not aware you can change out the fireplace front. I am going to look into that and do it.

Do you plan a tv for this area and where?

I had a similar enclosure and updated it with the black rust oleum paint that is intended for hot surfaces- did the brass pieces and handles, and it turned out great. I would put a mantle with art on wall to R and plant or basket below.

Our tv is in the family room. We're thinking a mantle and decor. The space would only accomodate a chaise or a chair/ottomam. It's an interesting space.

The mantle is too bulky/rustic for me. ...but what are your thoughts on shiplap - mantle - tile? Is that too busy? Too many materials?
