id guess 40-50s

Here is my guess with what i know about 20th century bathrooms and colors and paneling etc. in mid century homes. there are exceptions for higher end homes. depending on the luxury fixtures in the home there is high likelihood the fixtures and tiles would have been white through the mid- to late-40s. bathrooms and kitchens were considered places to keep clean and sterile and then pops of color were added with wallpaper etc. once we hit 1950 we started to see more colored tile and fixtures available to the masses because they were more affordable. and looking at the panelling and the color that to me is a 1960s-70s color. to me this screams bicentenniel, mid 70s. this is a total guess. what is behind it? is the panelling solid or veneer? that can also tell you its age.

I think because of the shape of the "tile" it could possibly go back to the original "modern" bathroom of the house maybe c. 1920s. Many houses did not have separate showers so they did not really need waterproof walls. So some people created the look of tile on their own. My neighbor's house had a tile pattern incised into the plaster--they still had no shower in the 1980s. I don't think it's post war because of the shape of the tile or the color.

So the “paneling” is solid wood and at least 1/2” thick. It appears it was once white and then was painted green. The house has tongue and groove on all walls over the studs which is exactly what’s behind this also. There once was a Clawfoot tub but it has been removed. I was really wondering if it could be original? The house was built around 1904. It has not been added on to but renovated throughout its history. I found the paneling behind 1980’s looking printed marble paneling sheets.
