last modified: 4 years ago

looking for any design ideas to add entry way drop zone for coming in from garage, more cabinets, small island or possibly a small pantry to our kitchen… all ideas welcome 😁
(we are planning to paint everything white, replace appliances with stainless steel, and add gold/brass accents etc. for style reference)

-kitchen is roughly 11x13

-door by stove goes to hallway and half bath

-door by shoe bench opens to dinning room

Hello! You need to post a to scale floor plan showing all dimensions, doors, windows etc in order for people to assist you. Include information about other rooms leading off of the kitchen so we can understand traffic flow. You don’t appear to have enough space to add an island, based on the images alone. The stove and dishwasher corner looks very tight? Are you looking to keep the overall layout of appliances where they currently are?

Hi! I think your kitchen has lots of potential!

One thing I would do it paint the walls a light gray (Big Chill is one of my favs). I would paint the cabinets a dark gray or navy. If you have the budget I would rearrange the layout and put in new counter tops. Like the the post above states, we will need dimensions, the layout, and even the money you want to put in. Once you figure that out let us know!

How wide is your refrigerator? Consider doing a light rearrangement of appliances, replacing a cabinet or two.

    1. Could you put the range where your fridge is currently, so that there is a little bit of landing on each side of the range? Having a range right against a doorway like that is both a functional problem and a safety issue.

    2. Then move the fridge against the wall opposite the sink. You could put the fridge right by the wide doorway, with a surround and overhead cabinets, then frame out the rest of the space across the deep niche and the shallower nice into a reach-in pantry.

    3. In the spot where your range is now, you could extend countertop across the "empty" space and put a roll-out cart underneath that countertop. The cart is storage, and can pull out to be temporary extra counter space.

    4. For a small landing space, put a small diagonal shelf across the small space between the white (garage?) door, with a key hook on the wall above the shelf. For a larger landing space, put a shallow cabinet unit against the side of the fridge--it would be perpendicular to the large open doorway. This could hold a bulletin board, mail slot, key hooks, phone shelf, etc.

Stopping by Houzz briefly right now in-between child demands. I'll try to post a diagram and some example pictures later tonight.

    Edited to add pictures:

Drawing it out illustrates how your exact room dimensions are criticial. Here's my best guess at your room, and there's not quite enough space for my fridge idea to work But maybe I'm underestimating the size. Or maybe you would consider a narrower fridge if you like this layout.
