If the cut worms or disease does not get it, it should recover Ok. This year’s leaves many be more immature (small, narrow, pointy).

Smiling about throwing it on the driveway. Glad you are back to yourself Ken. The only one I would throw on the driveway is the all green one that reseeds all over. I have been digging up the seedlings and sticking them elsewhere but that can't go on forever. I keep hoping it will breed with the neighbor and be something beside all green.

Don't worry. If those shoots are really broken off, tiny dormant eyes at its base will come up. Some people used to do that on purpose! Also, think of what a late freeze does to a hosta...it wipes out all the existing shoots, and then dormant buds pop up. Read more about stompping HERE.

I could never intentionally stomp on any of my plants. They are my babies. The thought just absolutely makes me shudder. I am glad that there is hope for the hosta in question.

I saw a video on Tiktok about people eating hosta pips!!!!

They cut them off with scissors in a very cavalier manner saying "Oh, they'll grow right back."

I was appalled- I protect each pip like they were gold!
