Geum did pass through my mind very quickly but was dismissed just as fast, based on the only other Geum I have knowingly come across, G urbanum.

Geum rivale looks similar to our Geum triflorum, Prairie Smoke. Geum canadense is a weed here, like your urbanum over there. It's so interesting that, we here have a few natives that our also native in the UK. There's this species, Caltha palustris, which we call Marsh Marigold, and you call it? King's Crown or something? Then we both have Achillea milifolium. I'm digressing here, but Achillea millefolium is a huge complex, and it's provenance has been debated, but it was already in NA, before the colonists arrived. There is a way to tell the difference between old world A. milifilium and our native milifolium. It's by looking at the arrangement of the new leaves. Our NA native Achillea milifolium has been reclassified as Achillea gracilis. The European milifolium is very rare here, and is only found around Port cities. I did write rivale. Houzz often deletes the last word that I type, making it look like I only gave the genus.

We call it Marsh Marigold too, or King Cup.

Note the Allium triquetrum in the picture. A common invasive here.
