Help picking a new sofa

Hello. I would like help picking the color of a new sofa for our family room. Current sofa is an oatmeal color and is not working for me. Other furniture in the room are a very dark brown leather sofa (slight burgundy undertone in the right light) and a pair of blue chairs. Walls are BM Revere Pewter double form. Room gets a lot of natural light. New sofa must work with existing furniture. Rug will also stay, it was a custom order to fit our large room size.
My inspiration for the room’s color palette is the large boat picture. My thought would be to go with a light camel color, maybe a goldish tan? This color is also found in the rug.
I’m attaching multiple photos for you to see the room, plus a couple of sofas for color only.
Thanks in advance for your ideas!

I would prefer two more chairs instead of a second sofa.

When I looked at the pictures I had the exact same thought as decoenthuiast. Chairs in a blue fabric with some pattern, but nothing too busy. They shouldn't be exactly the same style as the other chairs. The chairs you already have look more gray than blue in the picture. I'm thinking of a blue closer to the color of the pillows on the sofa you're interested in replacing, which also brings in the blue in the painting you like.

Thank you for your thoughts. I’m having a hard time visualizing more chairs, I guess because we’ve always had 2 sofas. We definitely use the sofas to lounge on when watching TV, so I’m not sure more chairs will be the best for us. I am open to it though and will look for picture inspiration.

I wouldn't replace sofa with more chairs. Better for lounging.

I would find a fabric with a blue print.

    Here's a 4-chair grouping.

Since you like to use the sofa for lounging, how about using just the long section of a modular sofa? I like the gray color of your ottoman.

Thanks everyone. Decoenthusiaste, while I love the look of 4 chairs, it does look a bit formal for our room. This is really a lounging room. Also, what is probably not obvious from pictures, the room is over 20 feet wide. I’ve tried pulling furniture in before, but in my attempts the room seems way off balanced.
kandrewspa and eld6161, I like the idea of blue on the sofa, just not sure I can sell my husband on it. We are both more earth tone people. I’m afraid I’ll get tired of the blue, then I’m stuck.

Consider what you already have and given the flooring, rug and wall color, don’t suggest camel. Also with already three shades (couch, chairs, ottoman), I’d opt to complement one of them and suggest the chairs. Try C&B as they offer lots of styles, sizes, colors and fabrics.

Suggestions around balancing room, I’d pull couch out from wall, remove side tables and move your console behind it (edit accessories and add your beige lamp), then add your canoe art above and complementary cushions.

Try ottoman in front of fireplace, remove bench in corner and place your plant there. You could use the pictures from other wall and create a collage around TV. The most important addition will be a large square coffee table, which will be practical but will also really help to connect the seating.

When mixing two different style sofas I like to have differing arms so they don’t compete with one another. Since your leather sofa has rolled arms look I would recommend pairing it with a sofa that has straight arms. The camel color sofa works with your accessories and rug so it goes well. I’d add lumbar pillows to the chairs that have the Carmel color in them and also a lamp with the golden color (could paint the one you have). The rug size seems to be preventing you from pulling it down closer to the tv so there seems to be too much space left open there. You could take the rug to a carpet shop and have them cut down and rebind the edges. You’ve got a nice house!

Here on the lines of what I was thinking.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I like the ideas about moving furniture, but with it being open concept, with a corner fireplace and wall of windows that look out to the lake, it has been a challenge to find the best arraignment. I have moved furniture around for the 18 years we’ve been in the house, and this seems to be the best arraignment for us. We even tried a sectional in there and did not like it.
I am starting to like the idea of a blue sofa or something more complimentary to the chairs.

This is how a blue sofa would appear. I changed the art because I find all the glare off the glass disturbing.

To me a goldish sofa won't go with the existing rug. The current colors look cool tones and a gold would be warm. I would pick something in the beige/greige/taupe tone from the carpet. I also would get a big long sofa, it looks like your room can handle it and just more space for lounging on.

    Thanks BeverlyFLADeziner. I like that.
