calling all color detectives

last modified: 3 years ago

Hi. I know...our monitors and screens are all different and the only thing in common amongst them is their inability to portray a true representation of a paint color. BUT, let's just say you were at a party for design nerds and everyone had to try to guess a similar shade to this, or the LRV property, or the undertone...anything that might help to get a close match for this green paint. Many thanks for playing along.

This has a little more gray in it, but also a nice choice. Benjamin Moore's Sea Pine.

Or you could try a green from their Historic Colors collection. Here's Tarrytown Green:

Love both colors from Sabrina. Tarrytown Green is a personal favorite, and the Sea Pine would be nice with your roof color.

I love them all, especially Tarrytown. I want to copy this whole paint scheme for my home, except I have stucco, so the shade could play much more saturated.

J K, Tarrytown Green is really nice. Both my siblings used it on the exterior of their homes.

Body is SW Rare Gray; Trim is SW Casa Blanca; Accent color is SW Pewter Green. I agree the Pewter Green is lovely.

Thanks Celery! Interesting that my BM App only picked up Top Soil of all those shades listed in all the various lights. Backwoods happens to be one of my favorites in general though.

Lori Sawaya, I’m game! Thinking of painting the exterior of our new build SW Pewter Green and just ordered a sample from Samplize. Now for the rest of the story…trim? accent? front door? Which colors would you like to see used?

Depends on the house - style, roof color, overall vibe.

I get that. I’ll move along…don’t want to hijack this thread.

Oh my gosh, no worries. Posts go way more off the rails than that. 😁

But you can always start your own thread.

The green in the photo appears to have a muted, sage-like quality, possibly with a gray undertone, giving it a more neutral and versatile appeal. Its Light Reflectance Value (LRV) might be on the medium scale, suggesting it could work well in various lighting conditions.
