It's so fun to watch the new iteration of your garden take shape and see these roses rebounding. Congrats ☺️

We had a large (40-50 ft tall) old and with a lot of dead branches privet tree pruned down substantially yesterday, so now we will be doing a lot more moving of large climbers off of where they still are on our house and into that garden. Pax, Belle Portugaise, Reve d'Or, and a mystery buff colored old tea, for starters. In fact, we have decided to put some of them beyond the back fence of the new garden on new large structures, because Belle Portugaise, for instance, insists on getting 15 feet tall before it will bloom, and needs more space. It does not need a deer fence, b/c our deer do not climb ladders!

We finally just set up an irrigation system in our "new garden", so I don't have to water it by hand anymore. Of course, the first time we turned it on, it produced a water spout going up 10 feet - not in the program, so my DH is going to fix it.

Lots more sun there now since the tree got hard pruned. Privets grow like weeds around here, so I am not worried about the tree - just worried that we won't be able to keep it a reasonable size in the future - we shall see.
