Hi,

I currently have a 7.5’ ceiling (flat roof-no attic) in my kitchen and family room. I am planning to build a roof so that I can get a vaulted ceiling.

The current plan is to increase the wall height to 9’, and make the top highest point of the ceiling to be around 11.5’.

My problem is, the current patio doors are 80” (6’8”tall). I was hoping to reuse these patio doors but I am worried it will look too short.

So I looked for a 7’6” doors, but they don’t seem to exist. Last I checked, the next height up is 8’. I am worried 8 ft patio doors would be just too tall and would not look cohesive with the traditional preexisting (8’ ceiling) front part of the house.

So should I just keep my current 6’8” door; or go with 8’ and just hope it wouldn’t be too much of am eyesore?

******want to add that the budget is not an issue- the contra already gave me his estimate with both 8’ and 9’ wall change. No difference. (So header priblem not a problem)

****** These patio doors ( a total spanning of 18’ :6’ and 12’ wide patio doors) look out toward my backyard.
