choosing a main paint color!

I’m looking for a neutral color to go all over my house. I have warm toned kitchen cabinets and floors. I thought I had it narrowed down to 2 greiges. One was SW Colonnade gray and BM Revere Pewter. I purchased samples of these and painted diff areas. I was shocked how they both turned out. They totally look blue. I do get a lot of sunlight and with the warmer tones in my floors and kitchen cabinets I’m sure this is why it looks blue. I’ve tried a different gray and that also looks blue. I wanted to love a gray but I don’t think I’m going to get there. It’s looking like beige is really my only option. Ugh why is choosing a color so hard.

Revere Pewter seems a bit muddy. I used 75% of Revere Pewter that is a tad lighter and warmer.

Revere Pewter is not at all blue. Are you painting over another color without priming first or on a white board?

Well I first purchased a sample at Lowes which I don’t believe has primer. It looked blue so I thought maybe it was the way the paint was mixed. I then went to Home Depot and had them mix it using behr dynasty which I believe has primer. They both came out very similar. The lighter color in these photos are BM-RP and the darker is SW-CG

No you won’t get a true representation from painting over another color on the wall. Also, primer is not in the paint. I suggest buying some white foam board from Walmart. Also the hardware store is a terrible place to shop for paint and decide colors.

Paint on the white boards not on the unprimed walls. Lighting also changes the look. You want these boards because you can move them to different sides and near objects. Just painting one small area of the room isn’t going to cut it.
