IMO a pretty useleight light for a 17' ceiling since it might be able to light the ceiling but IMO not the area it should light . All those tiny bulbs are not very much light and IMO this area needs ligting that lights the sapce so down lights or a fixture with both up and down lights , You will of course need to change all those bulbs to LEDs since changing bulbs will need an expensive installer over the years. I have no clue as to your style so sale or not I would keep looking and if you want help here give us some idea of your style. IMO an really expensive light for no real wow factor in that entry I think someting long and maybe 3 tiered would be awesome with one tier showing in that window above the door.

I would rather have something a touch on the larger side than too small - the fixture does not seem bulky so I would be tempted to grab the deal and then sell it on Marketplace if I did not like it (or does the outlet take returns?) If you have a really good relationship with your contractor they might be willing to indulge you and help you to hang it in the spot to check it out (not wired - just suspended) If you love the fixture, I think it is worth the risk!
