Unless you do some sort of wide trim, colonials tend to look "naked" without shutters. In my opinion.

Colonials should have shutters. Yours are nicely proportioned for your windows and look good. In the dappled shade, it's hard to get a read on the color of your house, thus recommending a shutter color is tough. I'd vote for something with more color, rather than the dark (black?) you have now. A navy blue or forest green can be pretty dark, but add more color.

For the door, I'd recommend a color lighter than the shutters. An easy way to do that is to mix the shutter shade with 50% white. You want the paint store to do this, as they will use the same white that is in your colored paint (colors are all mixes).

Much nicer with the shutters.

I would leave shutters, they are right size for your windows.

Keep the shutters!

What color are you painting the main body of the house? Is the front door wood?

House will stay white. Yes, the front door is wood.
